چکیده

Ultraviolet-B (UV-B; 280–315 nm) radiation induces the biosynthesis of secondary plant metabolites such as flavonoids. Flavonoids could also be enhanced by blue (420–490 or green (490–585 light. act antioxidants and shielding components in plant’s response to UV-B exposure. They are shown quench singlet oxygen reactive hydroxyl radical. Temporal sequence of changes in rat retina after UV-A and blue light exposure

Two spectral types of retinal light damage were induced in pigmented rats by irradiating small retinal patches at either 380 or 470 nm. The temporal sequence of changes in the retina was followed for up to 2 months by funduscopy and histology. For both damage types, fundus changes were best visible after 3 days. Histology showed that 380 nm specifically damaged photoreceptor cells, particularly...

UV-A light induces anthocyanin biosynthesis in a manner distinct from synergistic blue + UV-B light and UV-A/blue light responses in different parts of the hypocotyls in turnip seedlings.

The effects of irradiating blue, UV-A, UV-B and a combination of the lights on anthocyanin accumulation at different hypocotyl positions were investigated in seedlings of the purple top turnip 'Tsuda'. The location of anthocyanin accumulation varied depending on different light spectra. Stronger accumulation of anthocyanin was induced (i) at the upper hypocotyl positions by blue light; (ii) mai...

Free and Bound Polyamines Changes in Different Plants as a Consequence of Uv-b Light Irradiation

All abiotic and biotic stresses induce or involve oxidative stress to some degree, and the plant ability to control oxidant levels is highly correlated with stress tolerance. Polyamines (PAs) have antioxidant properties and their induction in response to stress is well known. Mesembryanthemum crystallinum L., Thellungiella halophila Mey., Plantago major L. and Geum urbanum L. plants were grown ...
